Brickforce & steel prices in Botswana
Steel is one of the biggest line items on any build. This guide explains the brickforce, rebar and structural steel we stock in Francistown and Letlhakane, what moves the price, and how to get a current quote for your project.
Steel & reinforcement at a glance
| Item | Common sizes | Best for |

| Rebar (Y-bar) | Y8, Y10, Y12, Y16, Y20, Y25, Y32 in 6m and 12m lengths | Foundations, slabs, columns, beams and ring beams |
| Welded mesh | Ref 193 / Ref 245 sheets and rolls | Surface beds, driveways and light slabs |

What does brickforce and steel cost?
Steel prices in Botswana move with international steel prices, the rand exchange rate and freight costs, and they can change month to month. Rebar is usually priced per length or per tonne, brickforce per roll, and structural sections per length — so the total depends on your sizes and quantities. Because these figures change, we quote current prices per order rather than publish a number that could be out of date next month.
Send us your cutting list or bill of quantities on WhatsApp and we'll come back with a current, itemised price the same day — including volume pricing for larger orders.
Choosing the right rebar size
Y8 and Y10 are typical for light slabs and lintels, Y12 and Y16 for house foundations and ring beams, and Y20 and up for columns and heavier structural work. Always follow your engineer's or building plan's specification — undersizing rebar to save money is one of the most expensive mistakes on a build.
Buying tips
- Order from a cutting list — accurate lengths and counts avoid over-buying and site shortages.
- Buy brickforce by wall area — one roll covers a set number of courses; tell us your wall lengths and heights and we'll work it out.
- Check for straight, clean steel — heavily rusted or bent bar bonds poorly with concrete.
- Combine delivery — steel is heavy; one full load is usually cheaper than several small trips.
