JoJo vs Flo-Tek
Both are UV-stabilised polyethylene tanks built for African sun, so the day-to-day performance difference is small. JoJo wins on warranty length, size range (all the way to 20,000L) and resale recognition, which matters if you are specifying for a client. Flo-Tek typically lands cheaper per litre and is the sensible pick for a straightforward domestic backup tank where the extra warranty years are not worth the premium.
What size should you buy?
- 500L – 1,000L — emergency backup, garden irrigation, small flats.
- 2,500L — the most common household size; two to three days for a family of four.
- 5,000L — rainwater harvesting or small building sites mixing daily.
- 10,000L + — farms, boreholes and multi-unit developments.
Durability in Botswana conditions
Look for three things: UV stabilisation through the full wall thickness, a dark or light-blocking colour to slow algae growth, and a moulded (not welded) body. Tanks fail most often from a bad base rather than a bad tank — a full 2,500L tank weighs about 2.5 tonnes, so it must sit fully supported on a level slab.
